Description and Schedule

Each day will start with a Yang Vinyassa Yoga practice designed to open and invigorate the body. Levels of poses will be given from beginner to advanced, to suit all levels of yoga-practitioner. Once we have sufficiently warmed and opened physically we will end the morning sessions with guided breath-work, meditation and relaxation to balance the mind and spirit.

After morning practice we will head on to group breakfast, after which the day will be open and free for you to choose what to do with your time. There are several beaches 10 mins drive from Pumula Retreat Centre, and there is a small swimming pool with sun-loungers to laze on at the Retreat.

Cultural tours, beach and forest walks or longer hikes in Oribi Gorge or the Mangrove forests, abseiling, zip-lining, horse-riding, mountain biking, river-rafting, shark dives, ocean safaris, scubadiving and surfing lessons are only a few of the activities in the area for those who want to be more active.

For those who want to relax... massage, reflexology, shiatsu and reiki are available.

Once you make your 50% deposit a more detailed list of activities will be sent out with your booking confirmation.

Our late afternoon/evening yoga session will start with gentle Vinyassa and Hatha Yoga to prepare the body. We will then move into a Yin and Restorative Yoga practice to work into deeper held tension and stress held in the fascia, other connective tissue and the nervous system. We will close the evening practice with guided breathing, visualization and meditation to fully release on the deepest soul level.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks, tea and coffee are included in the Retreat rate. All meals are vegetarian. Please inform us in advance if you have any allergies or intolerance. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol but please do not be excessive as over-indulgence can be disturbing to the other retreatants peace, and will probably also make your own yoga experience quite unpleasant... hangovers and morning yoga are not the best combination!

About Tanya

Tanya Botha teaches Vinyassa Flow and Hatha Yoga at various locations in Johannesburg. She first started teaching yoga in 2006 and has been practicing since 2002. Tanya is not only committed to the physical practice, but is also deeply aligned with the Spiritual Purpose of Yoga. She loves to see the transformation that Yoga brings to the lives of her students on every level, from fitness and flexibility, to stress-release and deeper soul-shifts and personal awakening.

Tanya’s teaching style and alignment focus comes mainly from Anusara Yoga ( which is a particularly therapeutic physical style that has helped Tanya to release deeply ingrained mis-alignments and weaknesses in her own spine, hips and knees.

Tanya has always been deeply, spiritually intuitive and drawn towards the mystic nature of existence. She is particularly interested in the philosophies and ideologies of the Yogic Tradition. She was also a teacher of Pranayama, Yogic History, Philosophy, and Energetics on the Yoga Warrior Teacher Training for 5 years. She is awed by the depths of revelation to which this Yogic Path continually takes her and the joy that it brings to her life.

The above rates include 4 nights accommodation, 3 vegetarian meals per day, snacks, tea and coffee, 8 yoga sessions

Rates exclude the travel to and from Pumula Retreat, extra activities, daily outings and lessons

only 2 of the bedrooms are en suite. All other rooms are shared bathroom options.

50% deposit secures your place on the retreat. Full payment is required by 3rd December or full deposit and booking will be forfeited.

Refund policy on cancellation: 80% refund, if cancellation before 1 November; 50% between 1-15 November. No refund if cancellation after 15 November.

Please note that there is no smoking allowed in the rooms or communal areas within the retreat building, yoga studio or studio deck. Smoking is allowed in the garden away from the house, but please be considerate of those around you who do not smoke.

Travel to Pumula

Each person will make their own way to and from the Retreat Centre. Tanya will make every effort to connect people who want to share rides.
