Pumula Retreat offers Yoga Safari tours of the beautiful Province of KwaZulu Natal northern most province of the East coast, coastal city of Durban. Known as the Zulu Kingdom KZN is a spectacular multi-cultural destination flanked by the warm Indian Ocean on one side and the soaring Drakensberg peaks on the other.

Starting with an airport pick-up in Durban, our yoga and adventure tour explores KZN’s most stunning natural and cultural areas, including Nambiti Game Reserve, majestic Drakensberg peaks, Lake Eland, Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve and the finest beaches on the South Coast.

Guests experience these peaceful places through yoga, meditation, 4 wildlife safaris and guided walks through some of South Africa’s most remarkable wilderness areas. Healthy meals, snacks and comfortable beds await guests at each location, ensuring ultimate comfort and relaxation.

Our Yoga Safari tour is flexible and can be adapted to your preferred duration: 7 to 12 day trip.

All transport is organized by us and Scott himself will be your driver and tour guide. He´ll be there to get you everywhere safely, stress-free and on time for the next part of your adventure.

South Coast - Pumula Retreat

Our first destination is our own beautiful slice of paradise. We welcome you into our home to enjoy beautiful sunrises over the ocean when you wake up and start the day breathing in our spacious yoga studio watching birds, monkeys, bushbuck and duiker roaming freely in our well wooded garden. Relax by the pool, watch the whales passing by or snooze in the hammocks under the majestic trees reconnecting with Mother Nature.

Explore the white beaches and the beautiful forest surroundings around us. You can take surf lessons, scuba dive, go horse riding. We will take you to Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve where you can test your adrenaline with the highest Gorge swing in the world, hike or zip line at Lake Eland.

Visit Thanda, a community-based organization setting up a fun day of volunteering and giving back.

 

Drakensberg Mountains - Cathedral Peak - Didima

About Didima

Located in the Drakensberg mountains range, Cathedral Peak borders the upper region of Thukela to the north and east, Lesotho to the west and Monk’s Cowl to the South and covers 32,000 hectares. There is the magnificent Didima Valley with its many examples of rock art and its many trails.

There are several options for hiking, our favorite trail is to go up to Baboon Rock which usually takes 5 hour with stunning panoramic views.

 

Accommodation

Didima Resort with its unique style symbolizes the dwelling of the San People who once lived in these mountains.

The comfortable Chalets are all brick under thatch with magnificent views over the Cathedral Peak mountains.

There is a swimming pool and a tennis court and wifi available at the restaurant.

We will practice yoga in one of the big chalet with a glass front side offering a spectacular mountain scenery.

It also offers a lot of space to relax in nature and has open spaces to enjoy some yoga with amazing views.

Wildlife that we’ll hopefully spot; eland, the largest antelope of Africa and the chacma baboon.

 

Nambiti Game Reserve

About Nambiti

Nambiti is a luxury 5-star private game reserve in a malaria-free zone – so there’s no need for medication.

It is also the only reserve in the area that can boast of having the Big 5 (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and leopard), along with 40 other game species. Nambiti’s 22 000 acres offers incredible biodiversity with grasslands, riverine bush, savannah and thornveld.

Accommodation

Ndaka Safari Lodge is an African farmstead which has been converted and renovated into a homely, family-friendly lodge. Sleep in a luxurious safari tent and wake up looking at giraffes and other African mammals from your bed.

The experienced field guides at Ndaka have a wealth of knowledge on the local fauna & flora, geology, history and geography offering a fun & informative African bush experience.
