Pumula Retreat offers Yoga Safari tours of the beautiful Province of KwaZulu Natal northern most province of the East coast, coastal city of Durban. Known as the Zulu Kingdom KZN is a spectacular multi-cultural destination flanked by the warm Indian Ocean on one side and the soaring Drakensberg peaks on the other.
Starting with an airport pick-up in Durban, our yoga and adventure tour explores KZN’s most stunning natural and cultural areas, including the Zulu Falls, Nambiti Game Reserve, majestic Drakensberg peaks, Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve and the finest beaches on the South Coast.
Guests experience these peaceful places through yoga, meditation, 4 wildlife safaris and guided walks through some of South Africa’s most remarkable wilderness areas. Healthy meals and comfortable beds await guests at each location, ensuring ultimate comfort and relaxation.
Our Yoga Safari tour is flexible and can be adapted to your preferred duration: 7 to 10 day trip.
Our chef Kristin will make sure that nobody stays hungry with 3 meals a day and picnic lunches for hikes and excursions. All transport is organized by us and Scott himself will be your driver and tour guide. He´ll be there to get you everywhere safely, stress-free and on time for the next part of your adventure.
Zulu Falls Lodge is located in a calm and secluded area 36 km from Mooi River. The location offers stunning views of the Zulu Falls, 38 m high. The waterfall itself is reachable in a half hour hike. The lodge consists of four twin ensuite rooms, and two ensuite Rondavels, sleeping three adults each.
The swimming pool overlooks the Zulu Falls and the African veld. Enjoy this beautiful spot for sundowners or just a relaxing and meditating stop. Zulu Falls Lodge is booked is one booking so full group privacy is guaranteed.
Located in the Royal Natal National Park, the Camp offers breathtaking views of the Amphitheater, overlooks the Thukela river, its gorge and the Thukela Falls. This is the second highest waterfall in the world after the Angel Falls. The view is dominated by the spectacular wall of the Amphitheater and the Mont Aux Sources (3 282m). The Amphitheater is over 5 km long and its over 1 000m high cliff is rising over the valley and the Thukela gorge over the entire length. The Royal Natal Park and Thendele Camp is not only about the Amphitheatre, Mont-aux-sources and the Tugela Falls, there are numerous trails to hike and there are also San Rock Art shelters to visit. The hike we usually do is a 4 hour easy hike with stunning panoramic views.
Thendele Camp is made of two accommodation units, the older original camp – Lower Camp Thendele, and the more recently built, Upper Camp.
The Chalets are all brick under thatch with views over the Amphitheater. The Camp itself is a starting point for many hikes in different difficulties and lengths to choose from.
It also offers a lot of space to relax in nature and has open spaces to enjoy some yoga with amazing views.
Nambiti Game Reserve
Nambiti is a luxury 5-star private game reserve in a malaria-free zone – so there’s no need for medication. It is also the only reserve in the area that can boast of having the Big 5 (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and leopard), along with 40 other game species. Nambiti’s 22 000 acres oﬀers incredible biodiversity with grasslands, riverine bush, savannah and thornveld.
Ndaka Safari Lodge is an African farmstead which has been converted and renovated into a homely, family-friendly lodge. Sleep in a luxurious safari tent and wake up looking at giraffes and other African mammals from your bed.
The experienced ﬁeld guides at Ndaka have a wealth of knowledge on the local fauna & ﬂora, geology, history and geography oﬀering a fun & informative African bush experience.
Our last and final destination is our own beautiful slice of paradise. We welcome you into our home to enjoy beautiful sunrises over the ocean when you wake up and start the day breathing in our spacious yoga studio watching birds, monkeys, bushbuck and duiker roaming freely in our well wooded garden. Relax by the pool, watch the whales passing by or snooze in the hammocks under the majestic trees reconnecting with Mother Nature.
Explore the white beaches and the beautiful forest surroundings around us. You can take surf lessons, scuba dive, go horse riding. We will take you to Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve where you can test your adrenaline with the highest Gorge swing in the world, hike or zip line.
